Microneedling device treatment in Frederick suitable for acne scar reduction

Dr Ronald B. Prussick, Washington Dermatology Center Providing Acne Scar Reduction

For many years, laser treatments have been considered top of the line treatment for scar removal. Microneedling device treatment is now proving a viable alternative to laser therapy, putting cosmetic solutions in the hands of more people. In our Frederick and Rockville dermatology practices, patients experience a number of benefits from microneedling device treatment.

Microneedling device is gentle and effective at reducing the appearance of scars, while simultaneously evening skin tone and texture. The technique at work is microneedling, or dermal needling, a modality that has been proven among the safest for skin improvements. What happens with the microneedling device, versus other microneedling techniques, is that the process becomes amplified and more effective through automation.

To understand why microneedling may be effective, we must first understand the importance of collagen in the skin. Collagen is a naturally produced substance that, over time, decreases in the body. This is why we develop fine lines and wrinkles as we grow older. Collagen is also produced in response to an injury to the skin. Microneedling is the process of controlled-injury, a non-ablative technique that causes microscopic injuries to which the body responds with collagen production.

Microneedling device is the fast, effective method for collagen stimulation. Used for acne scars, microneedling device treatment also produces favorable skin-tightening effects, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. This procedure may be used alone, or in combination with topical products, which are better able to penetrate “needled” skin.

If you have been bothered by lingering acne scars, sun damaged skin, hyperpigmentation from melasma, or the signs of aging, microneedling device treatment in the office of Dr. Ronald Prussick can help you achieve tighter, more evenly toned skin. Treatment takes only a few minutes, and produces results that last several months. Best of all, dermal needling treatment does not take you away from your busy life for more than a couple of days.
