Frederick area patients ask, what is IPL laser therapy?

What is IPL Laser Therapy Frederick

At Washington Dermatology Center, we encourage our patients to take the time to learn about solutions available for a wide range of cosmetic concerns. This may include sun damage on the skin, rosacea, redness, broken blood vessels and freckles. These issues can be easily addressed with IPL laser therapy.

What is IPL laser therapy? Dr. Ron Prussick provides IPL laser therapy, often referred to as photo rejuvenation, and uses it for patients with the above concerns. When performed properly by a dermatologist, IPL laser therapy can rejuvenate the skin and improve its overall texture. This treatment must be done several times to achieve the desired results, and our team may suggest anywhere from three to five treatments initially. Then, patients should work sessions in over several months to continually benefit the skin’s texture and tone.

IPL laser therapy is completely safe, and is administered by a dermatologist who is trained and experienced in providing treatment sessions. Dr. Ron Prussick and the team of professionals at the Washington Dermatology Center may suggest IPL Laser therapy over alternative treatments because it can rejuvenate the skin with less downtime and healing required.

IPL photo rejuvenation works by administering light waves that target the red blood cells in the blood vessels and melanin, pigmentation responsible for age spots and freckles. It is absorbed by the red blood cells or the melanin to damage the pigmentation or blood vessel and allow it to be absorbed into the body. Once this has occurred, they become much less visible.

Patients will notice results after each treatment and should speak with our staff about how to care for their skin between services. Most patients will want to reduce their sun exposure and be prudent in administering sun block when spending any time outdoors. Many of our patients work with us to develop a skin care regimen that is most appropriate for their skin type and can help keep imperfections such as acne under control.

Dr. Ron Prussick is proud to offer patients two convenient dermatology locations including Frederick and Rockville, and encourages them to visit the one closest to them and their community.
