Laser treatment in our Rockville practice offers patients various benefits

Laser Treatment in Rockville

Many of us look in the mirror at some point and think that the passing of time has begun to show on our skin. Our skin, in time, shows the effects of every summer (and winter) spent under the sun, the various wounds we may have endured, and the stress we have carried with us throughout our lives. At Washington Dermatology Center, we provide solutions designed to slow or even reverse some of the common signs of aging.

Laser treatment using non-ablative IPL is one way in which our patients from Frederick, and surrounding areas may experience an improvement in their skin. In our Rockville dermatology practice, we use a vascular KTP laser to reduce surface blood vessels and pigmentation. We also incorporate the KTP laser scanner into photofacial treatments.

IPL treatments are different from conventional laser treatment, delivering intense pulsed light to the skin. Where lasers apply a single wavelength of energy, IPL technology has a less intense but broader spectrum of light. The full range offered by IPL gives us the ability to correct a number of different concerns our patients may have. Due to the gentle nature of IPL treatment, patients may resume their normal activities very quickly, and with little to no discomfort.

The IPL device used at Washington Dermatology Center is adjustable, which means we can tailor treatment to the precise needs of each patient. After a careful evaluation and consultation, the appropriate settings are selected based on skin color and type, as well as the condition we are treating. IPL is a wonderful solution for the effects of rosacea, diminishing brown and red spots. Hyperpigmentation aside from rosacea, such as sun spots, spider veins, and melasma respond well to IPL treatment. This is because the light focuses on superficial vessels that lead to reddened skin, as well as melanin within cells.

IPL or photofacials is also used to:

  • Reduce the signs of sun damage and aging.
  • Improve skin tone.
  • Smooth rough, scaly skin and reduce pore size for improved texture.
  • Uncover radiant, youthful skin by stimulating elastin and collagen production.

We understand that your skin is unique, and offer a variety of dermatologic treatments designed around your needs. Contact Washington Dermatology Center in Frederick or Rockville for your skin-enhancing visit.
