Botox and injectable fillers are commonly confused. While they have the same goal in rejuvenating the face and reducing the signs of aging,they have different functions. Botox softens lines while dermal fillers add volume.

Botox softens fine lines

Although it is injected under the skin, Botox is not a dermal filler. It does not plump or add fullness. Botox is a neurotoxin that relaxes the muscles to soften fine lines. Results begin to appear three to five days after treatment. Results typically last three to six months. Botox may be used to treat the following:

  • Fill in lines such as the nasolabial folds around the mouth
