What to expect from your appointment

Your doctor first assesses your areas of need. Take this time to discuss your medical history and your experience, if any, with dermal fillers. Be open and honest as to what you would like to achieve with fillers. This discussion helps your doctor determine the appropriate injectable filler and how much to use.

The problem areas are cleansed. If you have concerns about pain, a numbing agent may be used. Injections only take a few moments to allow the filler to enter under the skin adding volume to the treatment area. The effects of cosmetic fillers are immediate.

Recovery and results

Most patients do not require downtime following a dermal filler injection. Some patients may experience swelling, discomfort, or tenderness at the injection site. Ice packs may help with any discomfort you experience. Strenuous activity and rubbing the treatment areas should be avoided to ensure the filler does not migrate to unwanted areas. Depending upon the exact filler used, most patients have nice results for six to twelve or more months.
