Skin concerns addressed by Frederick area dermatology practice

Skin concerns addressed

There are many times in which Frederick area patients may seek the assistance of a dermatologist. Skin concerns and medical conditions may arise that require treatments and therapies. Some of the most common skin concerns addressed by Dr. Prussick’s dermatology practice include:

Acne

This condition does not affect only teenagers. Many adults struggle with acne and all ages can control this condition with a variety of therapies, which may include laser treatments, topical creams, and oral medications. Acne scarring can also be improved after acne has been controlled.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin condition that results in scaly, itchy red patches that can become very uncomfortable and unsightly. Psoriasis treatment is one way of addressing the problem and controlling flare-ups.

Eczema

Eczema is itching, dry skin, often troublesome for patients who experience this condition. Eczema may be caused by a number of problems, including an allergic reaction to something that has contacted the skin.

Warts, Moles, and Skin Tags

Warts, moles, and skin tags can cause discomfort and embarrassment, depending on where they are located on the body. Dr. Prussick can help patients remove these lesions and can provide biopsies of moles when necessary.

Vitiligo

Patients who are dealing with white patches on the skin may be suffering from a condition called vitiligo. Vitiligo has no known cause but several factors may make individuals more susceptible to developing this condition. Vitiligo treatment may vary depending on its severity.

Skin Cancer Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Unusual moles and lesions on the skin should always be analyzed by a dermatologist who provides skin cancer screenings and diagnosis. Treatment may include excision of the cancerous skin cells and further screenings over time to ensure cancer does not return or develop on any other areas of the body.

Patients in and around the Frederick area who are seeking a quality skin care team can contact Dr. Prussick of Washington Dermatology Center to schedule an initial consultation visit. We happily welcome new patients to our facility and are ready to meet you!
